How it works

Seven steps from call to back inside

  1. You call (587) 839-5625. Drew answers personally. No phone tree, no hold music, no dispatcher.
  2. You describe the situation. Type of lock, type of property, and your location. About 90 seconds.
  3. You receive a price quote on the phone. Service call fee plus estimated labour, fully disclosed.
  4. Drew arrives in a marked vehicle. Typical response 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and weather.
  5. You verify credentials at the door. Licence card, photo ID, and insurance documentation. Always ask.
  6. The lock opens. Non-destructive entry resolves over 95% of residential lockouts.
  7. You pay the quoted price. Credit card, debit, e-transfer, or cash. No upcharges.

Non-destructive entry

Your lock survives the call

The number one fear callers share: "Please don't drill my lock." That fear exists because unlicensed operators frequently drill locks they lack the skill to pick, then charge $300 or more for a replacement cylinder on top of the service call.

Non-destructive entry preserves your existing hardware. Your lock continues to work with the same keys. Your door frame stays intact. You avoid a follow-up appointment, a second invoice, and a week of waiting for replacement parts.

Drew carries specialized bypass tools authorized under s.351 of the Criminal Code of Canada and trains continuously on modern lock mechanisms. That combination of legal authorization, proper tooling, and practiced technique means your lock almost always survives the process unharmed.

If a lock genuinely cannot be opened without drilling, Drew explains why before touching a drill bit, and you approve the approach before any destructive work begins.

Spot the scam

How to avoid lead-gen locksmith fraud

Calgary, like most major Canadian cities, has a lead-generation scam problem. A U.S.-based call centre buys dozens of Google Business Profiles under fake local names, dispatches an untrained subcontractor, and charges three to five times the quoted price.

  1. Search the company name on the Alberta Corporate Registry. If the business doesn't appear, walk away.
  2. Ask for a provincial locksmith licence number before booking. Alberta Lock holds licence #B001472.
  3. Confirm the quote includes all fees. Total price, not a "starting at" teaser.
  4. Check for a fixed local address or service-area registration. Scam profiles often list a residential intersection or a virtual mailbox.
  5. Request photo ID and licence card on arrival. If the technician refuses, do not let that person touch your lock.

Worked with Drew to rekey our new-to-us home, ran into some trouble with a bad cylinder and despite a small wait, he managed to get everything sorted out and in clean working order. I would vouch for him and recommend him to others for his transparent pricing and commendable workmanship. Thanks for taking care of our family Drew!

Called Drew late afternoon and he was able to come over on his way home to have a look at fixing the mechanism on my antique door handle assembly. Drew was not familiar with the style of the handle but through troubleshooting and persistence, he was able to resolve the issue saving me several hundreds of dollars in a new handle mechanism. Works great now. I would definitely call them again and recommend his services to family and friends.

A silly whoops, left the keys in the car. But this beauty of a man came in decent time, even when delayed he called us to let us know. When he arrived it couldn't have taken more than five minutes. Absolutely no damage to the car, and he was polite the whole time. Take it from a girl who's used to scams and shady people, if you're panicking and don't know what to do, use this company. Any car locksmith is expensive, but this one is reasonable. Again, thank you.

I highly recommend Alberta Lock! Drew was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. All the other places I called expected me to be an expert on security and locks. They gave me so much overwhelming information and asked me a lot of questions. But when I called Drew and explained what I was looking for, he guided me to the right solutions really quickly and easily. He was available when we needed him, provided updates on arrival time and throughout the job, and got the work done quickly and with great quality. Drew was also very polite and professional, and I would definitely hire him again!

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can an emergency locksmith get to me in Calgary?
Alberta Lock typically arrives within 20 to 40 minutes anywhere inside Calgary city limits. Calls to Airdrie, Cochrane, or Okotoks add 10 to 20 minutes depending on road conditions. Drew confirms an estimated arrival time on the phone before dispatch.
How much does an emergency locksmith cost in Calgary after hours?
Alberta Lock provides a full price quote on the phone before dispatching. After-hours rates (8 p.m. to 7 a.m. and statutory holidays) include a service call fee plus labour. The quoted price is the final price. No hidden surcharges appear at the door.
Will the locksmith have to drill my lock to get me in?
In over 95 percent of residential lockouts, Alberta Lock uses non-destructive entry techniques that leave your lock and door frame undamaged. If a lock genuinely requires drilling due to internal damage, Drew explains the reason and gets your approval before starting any destructive work.
How do I verify that my Calgary locksmith is actually licensed?
Ask for the provincial locksmith licence number before booking. Alberta Lock holds licence B001472 (class: Locksmith), issued under the Security Services and Investigators Act of Alberta. You can verify any Alberta locksmith licence through the provincial registry.
Can you unlock my car if I locked the keys inside?
Yes. Alberta Lock handles automotive lockouts for most domestic and import vehicles manufactured between 2000 and 2024. Drew carries vehicle-specific bypass tools authorized under sections 351 and 353 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
What is the locksmith lead-generation scam and how do I avoid it?
Scam operations use fake Google Business Profiles managed by overseas call centres. They quote $35 on the phone, then send an unlicensed subcontractor who drills your lock and charges $400 or more. Protect yourself by verifying the company on the Alberta Corporate Registry, asking for a provincial licence number, and requesting photo ID on arrival.
Do you rekey locks after a break-in at night?
Yes. Alberta Lock stocks commercial-grade deadbolts and cylinder hardware on the service van for same-night rekeying or lock replacement after a break-in. Drew secures the property so you can sleep safely without waiting until the next business day.
