Lost car keys, cut and programmed in your driveway

No tow truck. No dealership wait. No $600 markup. Drew arrives at your vehicle with blanks and diagnostic gear and hands you a working key in 45 to 90 minutes, typically 30 to 50 percent below dealer pricing.

Drew picks up personally. Quote before anyone drives anywhere.

Whether you locked yourself out, lost every copy, or snapped a key in the ignition, Alberta Lock cuts and programs replacement keys on site, typically within 60 to 90 minutes of your call. Same-day reach across Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, and Okotoks.

Why locksmith over dealer

Lower cost, same day, at your location

Most people searching for a car key locksmith in Calgary already suspect the dealership route costs too much. They're right. Dealerships typically charge $300 to $600+ for a single replacement key, and many require you to tow the vehicle to their lot first.

  • Lower cost. 30 to 50 percent less than dealership pricing for the same OEM-spec key and programming.
  • No tow required. Drew drives to your parking lot, driveway, or roadside location.
  • Same-day turnaround. Most jobs wrap within an hour on site.
  • Direct accountability. You deal with the licensed professional doing the work, not a service desk.

Types of keys we replace

From flip keys to proximity smart fobs

  • Transponder chip keys: the most common type since the late 1990s. Engine won't start without proper programming.
  • Remote head keys (flip keys): combine a transponder chip with integrated lock/unlock buttons. The blade folds into the fob body.
  • Proximity smart keys: keyless entry and push-button start fobs on most 2015+ vehicles.
  • Key fob remotes: older-style remotes that pair with a separate metal key.
  • High-security sidewinder / laser-cut keys: many Ford, Honda, and European vehicles. Specialized cutting machinery on the mobile unit.

Not sure which type your vehicle needs? Send a photo of your old key or share your year, make, and model by text. Drew will confirm the key type and quote before arriving.

Our process

Five steps from first call to working key

  1. Contact and verification (5 minutes): call or text with your vehicle's year, make, model, and VIN. Drew confirms parts and quote.
  2. On-site arrival (30 to 60 minutes in Calgary): Drew arrives with key blanks, cutting tools, and diagnostic hardware.
  3. Key cutting: precision-cut to match your vehicle's lock code, decoded from the existing lock or retrieved through manufacturer data.
  4. Programming and cloning: transponder chip or smart key module synced to your vehicle's immobilizer.
  5. Testing and handoff: full start cycle, lock, and unlock tested before Drew leaves.

The entire process takes roughly 45 to 90 minutes depending on vehicle make and key complexity.

All keys lost

No original key required

Losing every copy of your car key triggers a stressful chain reaction: you can't move the vehicle, you can't prove the key code, and most people assume a dealership tow is the only option.

Alberta Lock handles all-keys-lost scenarios regularly. Drew uses professional-grade diagnostic tools to extract or generate your vehicle's key data, then cuts and programs a brand-new key from scratch on site. No original key required. No tow required.

Because this process involves bypassing your vehicle's immobilizer, Alberta Lock verifies ownership documentation (registration, title, or matching government-issued ID) on every all-keys-lost job. This protects you, your vehicle, and the integrity of the service. All-keys-lost jobs typically cost more than a standard spare because of the additional programming steps involved. Drew provides exact pricing upfront so there are no surprises.

Worked with Drew to rekey our new-to-us home, ran into some trouble with a bad cylinder and despite a small wait, he managed to get everything sorted out and in clean working order. I would vouch for him and recommend him to others for his transparent pricing and commendable workmanship. Thanks for taking care of our family Drew!

Called Drew late afternoon and he was able to come over on his way home to have a look at fixing the mechanism on my antique door handle assembly. Drew was not familiar with the style of the handle but through troubleshooting and persistence, he was able to resolve the issue saving me several hundreds of dollars in a new handle mechanism. Works great now. I would definitely call them again and recommend his services to family and friends.

A silly whoops, left the keys in the car. But this beauty of a man came in decent time, even when delayed he called us to let us know. When he arrived it couldn't have taken more than five minutes. Absolutely no damage to the car, and he was polite the whole time. Take it from a girl who's used to scams and shady people, if you're panicking and don't know what to do, use this company. Any car locksmith is expensive, but this one is reasonable. Again, thank you.

I highly recommend Alberta Lock! Drew was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. All the other places I called expected me to be an expert on security and locks. They gave me so much overwhelming information and asked me a lot of questions. But when I called Drew and explained what I was looking for, he guided me to the right solutions really quickly and easily. He was available when we needed him, provided updates on arrival time and throughout the job, and got the work done quickly and with great quality. Drew was also very polite and professional, and I would definitely hire him again!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does car key replacement in Calgary cost?
Pricing depends on your vehicle's year, make, model, and key type. Standard transponder key replacements through Alberta Lock typically range from $180 to $440, while proximity smart keys and all-keys-lost scenarios can run $250 to $625+. These prices generally come in 30 to 50 percent below Calgary dealership rates. Send your VIN for an exact quote.
Can you make a car key if I lost all my copies?
Yes. Alberta Lock handles all-keys-lost situations regularly. Drew uses professional diagnostic tools to generate your vehicle's key data and program a new key from scratch on site. You'll need to provide proof of vehicle ownership (registration or title) before work begins. No tow to a dealership required.
How long does it take to get a replacement car key?
Most car key replacement jobs take 45 to 90 minutes on site, depending on the vehicle make and key type. Alberta Lock typically arrives within 30 to 60 minutes of your call within Calgary. Total time from first phone call to a working key in your hand usually falls under two hours.
Do you program key fobs and smart keys, or just cut metal keys?
Alberta Lock provides full key fob programming in Calgary, including transponder chip programming, remote head key pairing, and proximity smart key setup for push-button start vehicles. The mobile service unit carries the diagnostic hardware needed to program keys for most major makes from 2000 through 2024.
Is it safe to use a locksmith instead of a dealership for car key programming?
A licensed locksmith is equally safe, provided you verify credentials. Alberta Lock holds Provincial Licence B001472, carries $5 million liability insurance through Tokio Marine Canada Ltd., and operates with Criminal Code authorization for bypass and cloning tools. An unlicensed operator, by contrast, bypasses your vehicle's security system with no regulatory oversight or background verification.
What areas near Calgary do you serve for car key replacement?
Alberta Lock covers all Calgary quadrants plus Airdrie, Cochrane, and Okotoks. Travel charges may apply for locations beyond 30 km from Calgary city limits, and Drew confirms any additional fees before dispatching. Most surrounding-area jobs still get completed the same day.
What information do I need when I call for a car key replacement quote?
Have your vehicle's year, make, model, and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) ready. The VIN allows Alberta Lock to identify the exact key type, confirm parts availability, and provide a firm price. You'll find the VIN on your registration, insurance card, or the driver-side dashboard near the windshield.
